WILLIAMSBURG — Water Country USA is splashing into summer with the newly-opened Riptide Race, which it is billing as the first dueling pipeline in Virginia.
The family-friendly water slide is the park’s tenth, complimenting relaxing areas to unwind that include Hubba Hubba Highway and Rock ‘n’ Roll Island, plus kid-friendly spaces like the Lil’ Surfers Splash Pad.
The park describes the new slide as an adrenaline-pumping water slide race that pits teams against each other in a splash to the finish line. Riders can challenge friends and family members to see which team feels the rush of victory.
Water Country USA says the dueling pipeline is fast-paced, as well as high-speed. It begins atop a 54-foot tower where visitors grab a two-person raft before racing through 520 feet of slide with low walls to keep an eye on the competition.
