WILLIAMSBURG — Spring is in full bloom and the flowers are no different, and Sweethaven Lavender Farm announced Friday that it will welcome guests to enjoy the summer bloom season with new offerings and farm improvements.
Beginning May 16 through July 1, the farm will be open daily Tuesdays through Saturdays. Sweethaven will be closed on Sundays and Mondays.
In addition to regular attendance and hours, Sweethaven announced that it will be offering season passes this year. Pass holders enjoy free admission every weekday and for each Lavender Twilight event, which includes a bouquet each Friday.
According to Sweethaven, there will also be returning amenities, including daily pre-ordered catered picnics and sweet lavender-enhanced treats, including cotton candy, ice cream, lemonade, brownies and candies.
Lavender Twilight events will also return on Fridays from 6-9 p.m. Lavender Twilight events include a bouquet, live music from local musicians, and offerings from Hampton Roads Winery, including wine slushies. Charcuterie boxes and sweet treat boxes are also available to pre-order for Lavender Twilight events. Children require a children’s admission.
“We are thrilled to open for our summer bloom and are delighted about the new event offerings and amenities that we added during the off-season,” said Kerry Messer, owner of Sweethaven. “We are excited to have families and friends make another season of memories at Sweethaven.”
In addition to the returning events, new events will be available as well. These include Story Time with Messer at 11 a.m., featuring books about animals, nature and farm life. There will also be an interactive Q&A during each session. After Story Time, children will get the chance to enjoy the new play barn and the children’s cottages.
Messer will also be leading Garden Club and other small educational group tours that can be booked on Tuesdays. The tours will cover the planting and pruning needs of lavender, as well as the plethora of ways lavender can be leveraged for optimal health. Participants will also receive an overview of the process Sweethaven uses to harvest, extract essential oil, and create its all-natural skincare line on-site, ending with a Q&A about how to best utilize lavender at home.
In addition to four new shaded seating options, Sweethaven notes that it has added bunnies to go along with the lambs in its petting zoo.
Ticket prices vary depending on the day but range from $5 to $7 per person. Children under 12 are free with paid adult admission. Regular admission reservations are required and can be made online.
