WILLIAMSBURG — Local non-profit CultureFix is partnering with the Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS) to host a country music and barbecue festival on April 29 at Jamestown Beach Event Park from 1-7:30 p.m.
On April 28, teams from around the country will be arriving in James City County to compete for the coveted title of Grand Champion of the Revolutionary BBQ Brawl.
Ham Squad Worldwide is hosting the KCBS-sanctioned barbecue competition. World champion teams will be in attendance including the 2021 KCBS World Invitational Champion, Fergolicious, and 2022 KCBS Backyard World Invitational Champion, Ham Squad.
The teams competing will be cooking chicken, ribs, pork, and brisket for KCBS-certified judges as well as pulled pork that will be judged by the public. $20,000 in prize money is up for grabs over the weekend.
Music performers include Johnnie St Clair, Mason Brown & The Shiners, and
Drew Pace and his band.
In addition, local food trucks FoodATude, Matchsticks, Moto Crepes, Don Chido, and Amma’s Curry In A Hurry will be at the event. There will also be a beer truck, wine, and soft drinks available for purchase. No outside coolers, alcohol, or food are permitted.
Lawn chairs are permitted, and the event will take place rain or shine.
Tickets are $50 for VIPs and $20 for general admission. VIP includes one hour of early bird barbecue sampling starting at noon, three drink tickets, and a dedicated covered seating area. General admission begins at 1 p.m. and includes barbecue sampling as supplies last and food and drinks for purchase. All tickets include live music performances.
Attendees will get to vote for their favorite. At 5 p.m., the crowned champion
