WILLIAMSBURG — Williamsburg Presbyterian Church announced it will kick off the fourth season of its Open Door Concert Series on Sept 11.
The first concert lined up is the Atlantic Chamber Ensemble, a group consisting of young professional musicians based in Richmond, including members of the Richmond Symphony and faculty members of nearby universities.
More concerts will be held later in the year and early next year with the following groups slated for the following dates:
Oct 16, Invoke: Labelled a classical string quartet, this ensemble is equally comfortable exploring folk music on mandolin and banjo.
Jan 29, 2023, Alcce Chriss: Alcee Chriss III is an organist and keyboardist from Fort Worth. He won the prestigious Canadian International Organ Competition and launched an international concert career that has taken him to concert halls around the world.
Mar 19, 2023, Presbybop/Cantori: Presbybop has received national awards for integrating the arts with the ministry. For this performance, the quartet joins with the local choral ensemble, Cantori, to present its Requiem, a major work memorializing those who have gone before us.
May 7, 2023, Clocks in Motion: A percussion quartet that performs new music, builds many of its own instruments, and breaks down the boundaries of the traditional concert program.
All the concerts will be on Sundays at 4 p.m. at the Williamsburg Presbyterian Church. Following the concerts, there will be a reception. For more information as please check out the church’s page.
