YORKTOWN — Look out for plundering pirates at Yorktown riverfront this weekend.
Riverwalk Landing and the Watermen’s Museum are offering some family-friendly fun with their annual Pirates Invade Yorktown event from Saturday, April 24 to Sunday, April 25.
Guests will be able to travel back in time to the 17th and 18th centuries during the “Golden Age of Piracy” at the Historic Yorktown waterfront, 331 Water Street.
The event is free and open to the public, with plenty of events for both children and parents to enjoy. There will be a treasure hunt, blacksmithing demonstrations, sea shanty sing-alongs, and a pirate encampment for guests to explore.
There will also be a live cannon demonstration and “pirate trial.”
Visitors can join “Captain Mayhem” aboard the Schooner Alliance for a sailing excursion on the York River. (All sailings aboard the schooner requires a paid ticket.)
Guests and staff will be required to wear masks throughout the event, which takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days.
