WILLIAMSBURG — CultureFix closed out its ninth annual Winter Blues Jazz Festival with a musical tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and said it hosted a total of 1,200 attendees over the course of the weekend and its nine events.
The Winter Blues Jazz Fest closed with a tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by Victor Haskins at the William & Mary Alumni House. Attendees experienced a live musical performance that honored King’s life.
According to CultureFix, the multimedia/musical tribute “The Other America…Is Here, Now” was a musical exploration of King’s speech, “The Other America” and drew parallels between the speech and current issues, showing how King’s America and today’s America share much in common.
CultureFix said 57 of the 1,200 attendees were 4-day pass holders, and primarily from out of town.
The 2024 Winter Blues Jazz Fest will be a celebration of the tenth anniversary of the event. Once again, CultureFix plans to host the festival at the William & Mary Alumni House.
