WILLIAMSBURG — Fire caused extensive damage to a home in the Landfall at Jamestown subdivision Friday morning.
According to James City County, the James City County Fire Department responded to the residential structure fire at 2500 William Tankard Drive at 7:34 a.m. on Feb. 16.
The county said the homeowners, as well as several neighbors, called 911 reporting a fire in the garage and exited the home before the fire department was at the scene. Units arrived at 7:40 a.m. to find a significant fire in the garage that had extended into the living areas of the home.
The fire was brought under control at 8:11 a.m. There was extensive fire and smoke damage throughout the residence, according to the county.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the James City County Fire Marshal’s Office. Williamsburg Fire Department assisted on the call.
