YORKTOWN — Two people were arrested in connection with a shooting incident at Kiln Creek Park that took place Tuesday, July 18, the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office announced.
An additional suspect is being sought.
On July 18, Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to Kiln Creek Park, located at 2901 Kiln Creek Parkway, after reports of multiple gunshots fired from a vehicle in the area of the basketball court at approximately 6 p.m.
Although people were on the basketball court at the time, no one was injured.
The sheriff’s office said witnesses provided the investigators with a description of the vehicle the suspects were shooting from and a description of one of the shooters. Investigators recovered more than twenty spent shell casings at the scene. The sheriff’s office investigation division identified the vehicle used and the suspects involved in the shooting and obtained warrants for those involved.
Those arrested included the driver of the vehicle, 19-year-old Janique Fuller of Hampton, and 19-year-old Trevion Cokley of Hampton.
Fuller was charged with conspiracy to commit a felony and accessory after the fact. Cokley was charged with two felonies and three misdemeanors: conspiracy to commit a felony, shooting from a vehicle, shooting across a roadway, reckless handling of a firearm, and shooting in a public place.
Cokley was transported to the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail and held without bond.
The Sheriff’s Office has also obtained warrants for 18-year-old Dasaan Cokley-Williams, whose last known addresses were Hampton and Newport News. He is wanted for shooting from a vehicle, shooting across a roadway, reckless handling of a firearm, and shooting in a public place.
