JCCPD Seeking Suspect for Shoplifting at Richmond Road Sunglass Hut

WILLIAMSBURG — James City County Police Department (JCCPD) is seeking a suspect in a Jan. 29 shoplifting incident at the Sunglass Hut on Richmond Road. 

According to JCCPD, on Jan. 29 around 2:10 p.m., an unknown male rushed into the store and began grabbing items while shouting aggressively at store employees. Police said he stole twenty-one pairs of sunglasses valued at over $8,000. 

The stolen items included brands such as Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, Prada, and Burberry.

According to police, the suspect is a black male. He was seen wearing black boots, black pants, an olive-green sweatshirt, and a blue hat during the time of the theft.

The suspect fled the scene in a white, four-door Kia sedan with tinted windows and a decal above the taillights, police said. The vehicle was described as having one black racing stripe running from the front to the rear of the car, positioned over the driver’s side. 

JCCPD believes the suspect is a repeat offender. If seen or recognized, the police are asking to be contacted. Anyone who may information on the incident are asked to contact Officer Fitzsimmons at 757-253-1800 or  patrick.fitzsimmons@jamescitycountyva.gov.

Those with information may also call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or submit tips online at p3tips.com. Callers to the Crime Line and P3 Tips users may remain anonymous, do not have to testify in court, and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 if the information provided leads to an arrest.
