Unidentified Body Recovered in Retention Pond in New Town Neighborhood

WILLIAMSBURG — James City County Police recovered the body of a black man in a retention pond in the 5000 block of Olive Drive in a New Town residential area Wednesday morning.

A pedestrian found the body while walking along the roadway of the area.

James City County Police and Fire responded to the scene and recovered the body at approximately 9:45 a.m. on Jan. 25. The body has been taken to the Medical Examiners’ Office in Norfolk. 

The victim has yet to be identified.

JCCPD said this is an ongoing suspicious death investigation.
