Jamestown-Scotland Ferry Suspends Service
Operations were suspended at the Jamestown-Scotland Ferry due to high winds associated with the winter storm as of noon Friday.
Update: As of 11 a.m. Saturday, The Jamestown-Scotland Ferry has resumed service.
High winds prevent safe loading of vehicles from the docks and transit across the James River. Service will be restored as soon as winds subside, VDOT said, adding service interruptions could continue to occur through the evening.
Motorists should use alternate routes, such as the James River Bridge (Route 17) and the Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel (I-664) until further notice, VDOT said.
For additional travel alerts, motorists are encouraged to follow @VaDOTHR on Twitter, visit 511virginia.org, call 511, or download the free Virginia 511 mobile app. Motorists ca nall the ferry hotline at 1-800-VA-FERRY (1-800-823-3779) for updated information to determine if an alternate route is needed. Motorists can also view the traffic queues approximately one-half mile from the boarding locations in real-time on the VDOT 511 cameras at www.jsferry.com.
