(City of Williamsburg)

WILLIAMSBURG — Firefighters prevented a blaze from extending into the living space of an apartment building Wednesday morning, according to the City of Williamsburg.

The Williamsburg Fire Department was called to a water flow alarm at High Street View Apartments, 150 Kings Manor Drive, at 4:08 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, according to a press release. Crews found a small fire in the sauna that appeared to have been extinguished by the fire suppression system. Further investigation revealed the fire had extended into the ceiling, the city said.

The fire was brought under control by 4:58 a.m., and firefighters remained on the scene to remove debris and check for additional fire damage, the city said. The fire caused extensive damage to the sauna and reached the yoga room on the floor above.

The city said the cause of the fire remains under investigation. No injuries were reported.
