HISTORIC TRIANGLE — Thanksgiving is Thursday, Nov. 24. Here is how local offices and services are impacted by the holiday.
James City County
James City County offices, facilities, services, libraries and courts will observe the following schedule for the Thanksgiving holiday:
County Offices:
Closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 24 and 25.
James City County Recreation Center and Abram Frink Jr. Community Center:
Closed Thursday, Nov. 24.
Parks:
All County parks are open year-round.
Park Stores and Guest Services Offices:
Chickahominy Riverfront Park, Little Creek Reservoir Park, James City County Marina and Freedom Park office/stores are closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 24 and 25.
Convenience Centers:
Tewning Road, Jolly Pond Road and Toano are closed Thursday, Nov. 24.
Garbage Transfer Station:
Closed Thursday, Nov. 24.
Curbside Recycling:
One day delay beginning Thursday, Nov. 24. Thursday’s recycling will be picked up on Friday, and Friday’s will be picked up on Saturday.
Libraries:
Closing at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23. Closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 24 and 25.
Courts:
Closing at noon, Wednesday, Nov. 23. Closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 24 and 25.
Williamsburg
In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, City of Williamsburg offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 24, and Friday, Nov. 25. This includes the offices in the Municipal Building on Lafayette Street and Quarterpath Recreation Center.
The Williamsburg-James City County Courthouse on Monticello Avenue closes at noon Wednesday, Nov. 23 and is closed on Thursday, Nov. 24 and Friday, Nov. 25.
Waller Mill Park is closed on Thursday, Nov. 24. It follows normal operating hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 25.
The holiday does not affect trash or recycling in the City. It is a Red Route Week for leaf collection; leaf collection will not occur on Thursday, Nov. 24 and Friday, Nov. 25.

Those who need to pay a city bill when offices are closed can use the convenient 24-hour bill payment drop box located at the front of the Municipal Building, 401 Lafayette St., for city transactions, and payments can be made online. Dropbox payments made on Thursday, Nov. 24 and Friday, Nov. 25, will not be posted until Monday, Nov. 28.
The city also reminds residents real estate tax bills for the period July 1-Dec. 31, 2022, are due Dec. 1.
York County

- Waste Management Center Admin – Closed
All Waste Management operations are closed on Thursday, Nov. 24. Garbage and recycling collections scheduled for those dates will be delayed one day until all collections are completed on Saturday, the county said.
Most operations, including the VPPSA Compost Facility, Goodwin Neck Transfer Station and Citizen Drop-off for recycling and/or garbage disposal will follow normal operating hours on Friday, Nov. 25 and Saturday, Nov. 26.
