RICHMOND — After helping lead the No. 8 William & Mary football team to a lopsided 45-12 victory against Villanova, sophomore quarterback Darius Wilson was selected as the Colonial Athletic Association Co-Offensive Player of the Week.
The honor marks the second time this season he has garnered the award.
Wilson posted a career-high 306 yards of total offense and accounted for four of W&M’s touchdowns.
The Bronx, N.Y., native completed 12-of-15 passes for 211 yards and equaled a career high with three touchdown passes.
Wilson also equaled a career high with 95 rushing yards on just eight carries and rattled off a 55-yard touchdown run.
Wilson’s outstanding effort helped W&M total season highs in points (45), total yards (582) and rushing yards (371).
One of the nation’s top quarterbacks this season, Wilson, the 2021 CAA Offensive Rookie of the Year, currently ranks 11th nationally in passing efficiency (159.4), fourth in passing yards per attempt (9.3), 12th in passing yards per completion (14.2) and 19th in completion percentage (.658).
Currently tied atop the CAA standings, W&M (9-1, 6-1) will look to secure at least a share of the conference title when it plays at Richmond for the Capital Cup on Saturday at noon.
