YORK COUNTY — Virginia State Police (VSP) announced that it is investigating a fatal car crash that occurred in York County over the weekend.
On Nov. 12, at approximately 8:14 p.m., state police were called to investigate a pedestrian fatality in which the vehicle fled the scene, VSP said.
According to VSP, the crash occurred in the eastbound lanes of Bypass Road, west of Route 132. A 64-year-old male pedestrian was attempting to cross Bypass road when he was struck by an unknown white sedan traveling in the eastbound lanes. The vehicle continued on its way, fleeing the scene.
The victim was taken to Riverside Regional Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries.
VSP is asking the community for individuals who may have been driving in the area of Bypass Road, in the vicinity of Route 132, prior to or after the incident, to contact VSP at 757-4253-4923 or at questions@vsp.virginia.gov. if they have additional information.
