WILLIAMSBURG — William & Mary head men’s basketball coach Dane Fischer announced the signing of point guard Jayden Lemond (Marietta, Ga./Blair Academy (N.J.) to a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday. Lemond will join the Tribe program for the 2023-24 season.
“We are very excited to welcome Jayden to the William & Mary Basketball Family,” Fischer said. “Jayden comes to us from an outstanding high school program in Blair Academy, and will be a great addition to our team.”
Lemond was ranked as highly as No. 34 nationally in the class of 2023 by 247Sports and is the highest ranked Tribe high school signee in the history of the recruiting website’s rankings. The 6-4 point guard is currently among the website’s Top247 nationally and is rated as one of the top players at his position, coming in at No. 28 nationally.
“Jayden is a pass first point guard who possesses excellent court vision and playmaking ability,” Fischer added of the newest member of the Tribe. “He is capable of defending multiple positions and rebounds the ball at a high level. Jayden will bring a great work ethic and toughness to our program, and he will be an outstanding addition to the William & Mary community.”
Lemond, a three-star recruit by both 247Sports and Rivals.com, spent the last three years at Blair Academy under Joe Mantegna. In 2021-22, he helped lead the Bucs to a 21-5 record and a Mid-Atlantic Prep League (MAPL) title. Blair advanced to the state finals before falling to St. Benedict’s. Lemond earned All-MAPL First Team honors for his efforts.
Prior to joining Blair, Lemond spend two seasons at Dwight-Englewood (N.J.). He earned all-league first team and all-county second team honors in 2020. Lemond averaged 14.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists and two steals per game in 2020. He also received the Masters Trophy in 2018.
In AAU, Lemond most recently played for the highly-regarded Atlanta Celtics program in 2022. He spent the 2019 season with Team Rio in UAA and competed in the EYBL with PSA Cardinals in 2021.
