WILLIAMSBURG — The Walsingham Academy Trojans varsity boys soccer team will travel to City Stadium in Richmond to compete against Wakefield for the team’s first-ever Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association (VISAA) Division III championship title Friday.
The school announced the team advanced to the state championship after its 2-1 victory over Veritas Tuesday in the VISAA Semifinals. Walsingham senior Keith Cardenas scored the Trojans’ first goal of the game with an assist by fellow senior Ethan Hayes, and the second goal was scored by Trojan junior William Patterson with an assist from eighth-grader Luke Stensland.
Walsingham’s second goal secured the victory to send the team to the state championship to be played Nov. 11 at 3 p.m.
