DOSWELL — Kings Dominion announced Tuesday, Oct. 18 that the park has plans to operate year-round beginning in 2023.

The Richmond-area amusement park has updated its official calendar with additional weekends in January, February, and early March.

“Kings Dominion will be the cure for cabin fever in 2023,” said Vice President and General Manager at Kings Dominion Bridgette Bywater in the park’s official announcement. “We’ve always wanted to find a way to extend our season to all 12 months, and now families and season passholders won’t have to wait until the spring for their favorite rides or their first taste of funnel cake.”

Busch Gardens Williamsburg opened year-round for the first time in its history in 2021.

The park stated that weather conditions and scheduled maintenance will limit the operation of some park attractions during certain months of the year. However, the 2023 season will see the annual return to Grand Carnivale, WinterFest, and Halloween Haunt.

The past year, Kings Dominion upgraded its Safari Village area for the 2022 season and has rebranded the area as “Jungle X-Pedition.” The new jungle-themed area features Tumbili a brand new steel roller coaster and Virginia’s first 4D Spin Coaster. Jungle X-Pedition also includes a new food option called Basecamp as well as a new performance called “Let’s Get Wild”.

The park is in the midst of celebrating its annual Halloween Haunt. For more information on Kings Dominion or its October-themed event, visit the park’s official website
