JCCPD Arrest Man in Homicide Investigation, Charged with Second Degree Murder

JAMES CITY COUNTY — James City County Police Department (JCCPD) arrested Lee Rondell Richardson, 40, of Newport News on Sept. 22, who is being charged with second-degree murder after a Sept. 13 shooting led to the death of a James City County resident.  

On Sept. 13, at 1:38 p.m., JCCPD and Fire Departments responded to a report of a gunshot victim at the 2600 block of Chickahominy Road. The victim, later identified as 38-year-old Alfred Lamont Johnson, was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering from a gunshot wound, according to police. 

According to JCCPD, Richardson has been transported to the Virginia Peninsula Regional jail where is he being held without bond. The investigation remains active.
