Motorcycle Pursuit Ends in Crash Friday Evening in York County

YORK COUNTY — Virginia State Police (VSP) reported that it was involved in a high-speed traffic pursuit on Friday evening with a motorcycle driver from York County that ended in a vehicle collision.

The incident started around at around 9:04 p.m. when a state trooper traveling westbound on Interstate 64 witnessed a Harley Davidson motorcycle passing at a speed of over 90 mph. The high rate of speed was recorded at 246 mm in York County, police said.

VSP said a traffic stop was initiated, but the driver continued to accelerate. Shortly after, the motorcycle struck the rear of a SUV occupied by one adult and two children.

The motorcycle rider, 34-year-old Quentin Andre’ Huggins of the 500 block of York Warwick Drive, Yorktown, suffered serious injuries and was transported from the scene, police said.

The occupants of the SUV were examined by paramedics, however, no injuries were reported.

Police said Huggins displayed signs of intoxication and was driving on a revoked operator’s license. He was not charged at the scene, but VSP says that the trooper will present the case to the Commonwealth Attorney and seek charges at a later date.
