WILLIAMSBURG — William & Mary freshman Ivey Crain was named the Colonial Athletic Association women’s soccer Rookie of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Crain broke onto the scene in her first collegiate game, scoring a pair of goals against Virginia Tech. She became the first Tribe player since Sarah Segan in 2018 to score two goals in a game. Crain is the first Tribe player to score two goals in an opener since 2015 and the first Green and Gold rookie since Claire Zimmeck in 2005 to tally a brace in her first collegiate game.
The Milton, Ga., native helped the Tribe out of a 2-1 first-half deficit with goals just a minute and 26 seconds apart. Crain equalized at the 34-minute mark, before finding the back of the net again in the 36th minute.
Crain and the Tribe return to action when they host Old Dominion on Thursday, Aug. 25. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on FloFC.
