WILLIAMSBURG — An Occasion for the Arts, an event that has supported and celebrated outstanding artists, stage performers, and youth activities in Williamsburg for 53 years, will hold a first-ever preview night Sept. 30.
Tickets for An Evening for the Arts may be purchased in advance on the An Occasion for the Arts event page. The base ticket price for the event will be $75, and VIP packages are also available. Proceeds will help fund a new Artist in Residence program supporting the arts in Williamsburg and James City County Public Schools.
“The inaugural Evening for the Arts promises to be not only a fun night out, but it’s also all for a worthy cause,” said Jill Pongonis, who is on the Board of Directors for An Occasion for the Arts and also part of the committee planning An Evening for the Arts. “Guests will be able to get a peek at what’s in store for the weekend and go behind the scenes with the artists while enjoying some great music and delicious, local food.”
An Evening for the Arts will begin at 5 p.m. with a private shopping event featuring artwork and the chance to mingle with festival artists. The full reception will begin at 7 p.m., with food stations featuring the best small bites in Merchants Square.
Participating restaurants include Aromas Coffeehouse Bakery & Café; Baskin-Robbins; Colonial Williamsburg restaurants Gold Course Clubhouse Grill, Rockefeller Room, and Sweet Tea & Barley; illy Caffé; Mellow Mushroom; Precarious Beer Hall; The Peanut Shop of Williamsburg; and Saladworks, and Williamsburg-based Good Shot Judy will play a list of swing classics during the reception, according to a press release.
An Occasion for the Arts will be held Oct. 1-2 in Merchant Square and is free to attend. A full schedule is featured on the event’s website.
