WILLIAMSBURG — Author Emily N. Madison will be signing copies of her debut novel “Skylark: The Dragon Lady” on Aug. 20 at the Barnes & Noble in New Town Shops.
According to a synopsis on barnesandnoble.com, the novel follows the story of Belladonna Skylark as she takes over as the captain of a pirate ship following the passing of her mentor — the ship’s previous captain. Without time to adjust to her new leadership role, she finds herself linked to a prophecy that leads her and her crew to Isla del Dragon. It isn’t all smooth sailing, with another ship captained by Cornelius Blackfoot hot on her heels and a slue of other obstacles in her path.
Madison is a graduate of Regent University with a degree in English Literature and American History. She’s had a passion for pirates, dragons, and fantasy ever since her father showed her the “Pirates of the Caribbean” when she was eight years old, according to barnesandnoble.com. When she isn’t writing her stories, she’s reading books or at Heavy Metal concerts. Currently, Madison lives in Virginia with her husband and Sheltie, Appa.
