WILLIAMSBURG — The Williamsburg Regional Library (WRL) is collecting school supply donations throughout the month of August to benefit families that come to its Bookmobile’s neighborhood stops.
School Supply donations will be accepted inside the front doors at both WRL library buildings from Monday, Aug. 1, through Friday, Aug. 26.
“This is a great opportunity to help local kids start the school year with everything they need to succeed,” said WRL’s Youth Services Director Ben Strohm, “We’ve seen time and time again how generous this community can be, and I have no doubt they’ll step up to the plate yet again.”
The library is accepting the following donation items:
- #2 pencils
- pens
- packs of lined notebook paper
- notebooks
- crayons
- erasers
- glue sticks
- tissues
- hand sanitizer
The Bookmobile team will be giving away the supplies beginning the first week of school on a first-come-first-served basis, while supplies last, WRL said in a release.
Williamsburg James City County (WJCC) Schools will also collaborate with WRL this week on both Tuesday, Aug. 2, and Thursday, Aug. 4, to distribute books during free book week. The book distribution will be at 515 Scotland St., Williamsburg.
The book distribution is a part of the WJCC Schools Gives Back campaign. The campaign is a week of community service events where school division leaders including office, principals and assistant principals are volunteering more than 200 hours at 10 different locations within the local community.
