WILLIAMSBURG — Newly elected and appointed board members of the Williamsburg Area League of Women Voters gathered at the Stryker Center, Williamsburg Regional Library Wednesday, July 20, to plan initiatives for the coming year.
The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization encouraging informed and active participation in government, influencing public policy through education and advocacy. The organization follows a philosophy to never oppose or support any political party or candidate.
During the meeting, the new board discussed focus areas including childcare, educational equity, environmental justice, and money in politics.
Additionally, the board discussed voter registration, as well as voter education initiatives, increasing membership and the upcoming Great Decisions lecture series.
