Upper Parking Deck Reopens at Riverwalk Landing

(York County)

YORK COUNTY — The upper level of the Riverwalk Landing Parking Deck, closed since May due to the discovery of a crack in one of the structural supports, has reopened in time for a busy holiday weekend after it was determined the damage was not structural.

York County officials closed the parking terrace on Water Street in May after the crack was discovered. While staff completed temporary repairs that allowed much of the lower level to reopen the next day, the top deck of the parking terrace remained closed.

Engineers have now determined that the damage is not structural and the upper deck is now open, according to the county.

As before, limited parking space on the lower deck is set aside for business and restaurant patrons, with beachgoers referred to the upper deck.

Cosmetic repairs are slated for later this summer and notice will be given for a reclosure period soon.
