July Fourth Closures Around the Historic Triangle

HISTORIC TRIANGLE — Independence Day is observed Monday, July 4. Here is how local offices and services are impacted by the federal holiday.

James City County

James City County offices, facilities, services, libraries and courts will observe the following schedule for the July 4 holiday:

County Offices:
Closed Monday, July 4.

James City County Recreation Center and Abram Frink Jr. Community Center:
Closed Monday, July 4.

Parks:
All County parks are open year-round

Park Stores and Guest Services Offices:
Chickahominy Riverfront Park, Little Creek Reservoir Park, James City County Marina and Freedom Park office/stores are open Monday, July 4.

Convenience Centers:
Tewning Road, Jolly Pond Road and Toano are closed Monday, July 4.

Garbage Transfer Station:
Closed Monday, July 4.

Curbside Recycling:
One day delay beginning with Monday-Monday’s recycling will be picked up on Tuesday, Tuesday’s on Wednesday, etc. 

Libraries:
Closed Sunday, July 3 and Monday, July 4.

Courts:
Closed Monday, July 4.

York County

County offices Closed Monday, July 4, in Observance of Independence Day

The following York County government offices and courts will be closed on Monday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day:

  • Offices – Closed
  • Libraries – Closed
  • Courts – Closed
  • York-Poquoson Social Services – Closed
  • Virginia Cooperative Extension Service – Closed
  • Waste Management Center Administrative Office – Closed
  • VPPSA Compost Facility – Closed
  • Waste Management Drop-off Area & Transfer Station – Closed

Curbside garbage and recycling will not be collected on Monday, July 4. Collections will be delayed one day for the remainder of the week with routes completed by Saturday.

City of Williamsburg

City of Williamsburg will observe Independence Day on Mon., July 4, 2022. All City offices will be closed. This includes the Municipal Building on Lafayette Street, Williamsburg Regional Library administrative offices in the Stryker Center, and the Williamsburg-James City County Courthouse on Monticello Avenue.

Quarterpath Recreation Center will be closed Sunday, July 3, and Mon., July 4. Waller Mill Park will follow normal operating hours, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Garbage Collection will be delayed by one day; Monday’s garbage will be picked up on Tuesday, and Tuesday’s garbage will be picked up on Wednesday. Note: The garbage collection delay for the Independence Day holiday week is a change from the RECollect calendars sent to residents earlier this month.

Recycling is not scheduled for collection. For water emergencies after hours, weekends, and holidays, please call 757-220-2331.

A 24-hour bill payment dropbox is located at the front of the Municipal Building, 401 Lafayette St., for City transactions, and payments can be made online. Dropbox payments made on Mon., July 4, will not be posted until Tuesday, July 5.
