WILLIAMSBURG — Kiskiack Golf Club will host the first Hampton Roads Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund tournament July 14.

The organization takes inspiration from Colonel John “Johnny Mac” McHugh who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving this country. The fund was started in 2014 by members of West Point’s Class of 1986 in memory of their classmate Johnny Mac, who was killed in action May 18, 2010 while serving in Afghanistan.

The mission of the organization as a nonprofit that honors military service and sacrifice is to provide scholarships to veterans and military family members — particularly the children of soldiers who have fallen or are disabled. The Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund is committed to seeing that the children of these soldiers achieve their goals in college education.

Since its founding, the Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund has awarded $25 million in scholarships and education programs to more then 3,500 military students across the nation from different branches of service.

Book a team for the tournament by following the link on the QR code or by going here to register your team. The cost is $100 per player and covers greens fees, cart fees, range balls and a box lunch.
