LeadingAge Virginia announces Gregory Storer as its next Board of Directors Chair
LeadingAge Virginia, an association of not-for-profit aging services providers in Virginia, recently announced Gregory Storer will become the association’s next Board of Directors Chair July 1. Storer is the current board’s vice chair and is also president and CEO of Williamsburg Landing life plan community. Storer joined LeadingAge Virginia’s board in 2018 and served as the co-chair of their Middle Market Cabinet from 2019-20; the cabinet produced the association’s Middle Market Playbook, which serves as a model for serving middle income seniors. LeadingAge Virginia serves residents and clients across the senior care continuum including life plan/continuing care communities, senior housing, assisted living, nursing homes, adult day centers, and home and community-based services. York County Treasurer’s Office Reminder of Upcoming Tax Due Date
The York County Treasurer’s Office is reminding residents all taxes are due on June 25. Payments will be accepted through Monday, June 27 and considered on time. Beginning Tuesday, June 28, there a 2% late penalty will be incurred. For personal property tax, the 2% penalty has been extended through September 30, delaying the increase to 10% until after that date.
JCC DMV Select Offices to Open at 10 a.m. June 22
James City County’s two DMV Select Offices located at the Treasurer’s Office (101-B Mounts Bay Road) and the Satellite Services Office (3127 Forge Road) will open at 10 a.m. on June 22. The delayed opening is needed for staff to complete a required semi-annual audit of all inventory. The Treasurer’s Office and the Satellite Services Office are not affected and will open to the public at 8 a.m. to process any County transactions. Neighborhoods Invited to Join Police for National Night Out
James City County neighborhoods are invited to join forces with police and thousands of communities nationwide August 2 for the Annual National Night Out. National Night Out heightens crime and drug prevention awareness; generates support for local anti-crime efforts; strengthens neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and sends a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. During the evening, residents throughout the county are asked to lock their doors, turn on porch lights and spend the evening outdoors with neighbors and police. Many neighborhoods plan block parties, cookouts and visits from County Police and McGruff the Crime Dog. ASPIRE Young Professionals Networking Lunch at Le Yaca
The ASPIRE Young Professionals are hosting a networking lunch at Le Yaca French Restaurant on Tuesday, June 28 at noon. Young professionals age 21-39 are invited to join the lunch for good food and good conversation. Tickets are $15, which covers the cost of lunch and gratuity. There are only 16 seats available for the event, and attendees must register in advance.
JCC’s Housing Office to Host 2022 Rental Fair
James City County’s Housing Office will host a 2022 Rental Fair on June 27 from 5:30-7 p.m. at the JCC Recreation Center at 5301 Longhill Road. The event is for landlords and tenants, and will provide information about resources and services available to assist with housing needs including rent, utilities, employment, education and legal aid.
