JAMES CITY COUNTY — James City County announced that the Jamestown Olympic Triathlon and Jamestown Sprint Triathlon will cause temporary delays on portions of James City County roads on Saturday, June 18, and Sunday, June 19.
According to a news release, motorists will encounter delays from 7-11 a.m due to the event on:
- Jamestown Road near Jamestown Event park
- Greensprings Road
- John Tyler Highway, including the intersection of John Tyler Highway and Greensprings Road and John Tyler Highway at Chickahominy Riverfront Park.
Police will be directing traffic during the race to aid in preventing delays, however, drivers should use caution as bicyclists and runners will be traveling on the roadways throughout the morning.
The Jamestown Olympic Triathlon features a 1.5K Swim, a 40K Bike (Flat), and a 10K Run(flat). The Jamestown Olympic Aquabike features a 1.5K Swim and a 40K Bike (flat).
The Jamestown Sprint Triathlon features a 750 Meter Swim, a 20K Bike (Flat), and a 5K Run (flat). The Jamestown Sprint Aquabike features a 750 Meter Swim and a 20K Bike (flat).
According to a news release, the Jamestown Triathlon events are USA Triathlon sanctioned events and are organized by Kinetic Multisports. The Olympic and Sprint distance races will be the USA Triathlon Virginia State Triathlon Championships, and the Sprint distance race will be the USA Triathlon Virginia High School Triathlon Championships.
