YORKTOWN — Join the Watermen’s Museum in Yorktown for a patriotic salute to the armed forces as it celebrates Yorktown Military Appreciation Weekend June 11-12.
Events will occur throughout the town all weekend long, with special exhibits and programs to be presented at the Watermen’s Museum, Mob Jack Bay Coffee Roasters, York County Historical Museum at York Hall and the Museum on Main. Events will include historic craft demonstrators, living history and period music.
Saturday will include a ceremony to honor local World War II Veterans. Events will feature military timeline exhibits at the museum and World War II living history demonstrations at York Hall in addition to the military branch recognition ceremony at the museum at noon.
Sunday will highlight the history of the United States Coast Guard and include a tribute to the 1813 Battle of the USRC Surveyor, War of 1812 exhibits, and a ceremony and wreath-laying presentation with members of the Coast Guard at 2 p.m. A symphony concert and cannon salute will follow.
