WILLIAMSBURG —William & Mary head women’s soccer coach Julie Shackford ’88 has announced the Tribe’s 2022 fall schedule. The 18-match slate includes eight home matches and six contests against teams that played in the NCAA Tournament in 2021.
Combined the Tribe’s 18 opponents had a winning % of 55.2 in 2021, including a 56.7 winning % among nonconference foes. The Tribe’s 2022 nonconference opponents averaged nearly 10 wins apiece last season.
The nine-match non-conference slate features four home tilts. Highlighting the schedule is the season opener with Atlantic Coast Conference foe Virginia Tech on Aug. 18 at Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field. The Hokies advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament last season.
Home dates with Old Dominion (Aug. 25), American (Sept. 4) and Longwood (Sept. 15) are also included during the nonconference schedule. W&M hits the road for five nonconference matches against George Washington (Aug. 21), High Point (Aug. 28), VCU (Sept. 1), Georgetown (Sept. 11) and East Carolina (Sept. 18). ODU, High Point and Georgetown all played in the 2021 NCAA Tournament and the Hoyas finished the year ranked No. 22 nationally.
The Tribe’s nine-match CAA schedule will include four home contests and the Green and Gold will face all three new league members. W&M opens the CAA slate on the road at new member Stony Brook (Sept. 22). The Tribe will also travel to Hofstra (Sept. 25), Towson (Oct. 13), Elon (Oct. 16) and Hampton (Oct. 23) during the league slate.
After opening the CAA schedule with two-straight road games, W&M returns home with all four of its CAA games in succession. The Tribe hosts UNCW (Sept. 29), Charleston (Oct. 2), Northeastern (Oct. 6) and Monmouth (Oct. 9) over a two-week stretch.
W&M will play a pair of exhibition matches to open the fall campaign. The Tribe hosts Richmond on Aug. 7, before traveling to George Mason six days later.
The CAA Championship is set for Oct. 27 through Nov. 5. The quarterfinals and semifinals will be played at the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds on Oct. 27 and Oct. 30, respectively, before the championship is held at the highest remaining seed on Nov. 5.
