NEWPORT NEWS — Langley for Families Foundation announced that it has raised what it called a record-breaking $520,000 in gross profits for local nonprofits at its recent Eighth Annual Charity Golf Classic.
The Charity Golf Classic took place at Golden Horseshoe Golf Club in Williamsburg May 17, with 156 golfers participating in two tournaments on the club’s Gold and Green course. The previous gross proceeds record was $389,000, set last year.
“We are so grateful to our sponsors, partners, and volunteers for their commitment to the mission and their willingness to support families in Hampton Roads,” said Langley For Families Foundation’s Chairman Fred Hagerman in a release. “We had a record-breaking year because of individuals and businesses stepping up to meet the need and help others.”
The Langley for Families Foundation was launched in 2014 to support causes and charities that benefit children and families. The net proceeds from the Charity Golf Classic will be granted to Hampton Roads nonprofits that are involved in healthcare, housing and human services, and access to education.
