Historic Triangle — Dominion Energy and Joint Base Langley-Eustis (JBLE-Eustis) have completed a multi-million dollar transmission line and substation upgrade project at Fort Eustis.
According to Dominion Energy, the project, will ensure reliable and resilient power to the installation.
The project has been in the works for over a decade, since its earliest planning stages, and has been a collaborative effort between Dominion Energy and the U.S. Air Force.
JBLE-Eustis’ main substation has been in place since 1966. The upgrades are said to drastically decrease the frequency and duration of power outages, which are known to occur more often during hurricane season and the peak summer season.
Dominion Energy Senior Vice President of Power Delivery Charlene Whitfield, JBLE Installation Commander Colonel Gregory S. Beaulieu, 733rd Mission Support Group Commander Colonel Chesley D. Thigpen, Jr., and representatives from JBLE took part in a ribbon-cutting ceremony earlier this month to present the project to the community.
