WILLIAMSBURG — Abortion rights supporters will gather in Williamsburg and nationwide Saturday, May 14 for a “Bans Off Our Bodies” day of action.

Organized by Williamsburg JCC Indivisible, the Bans Off Our Bodies demonstration is set to take place at the Williamsburg-James City County Courthouse, 5201 Monticello Ave., from 5-6:30 p.m.

The protest is in support of abortion access and reproductive freedom, according to Williamsburg JCC Indivisible.

The rally is a response to the leaked Supreme Court draft opinion which suggests that the court could be poised to overturn Roe v. Wade.

Hundreds of thousands of advocates for reproductive rights are expected to turn out at events across the U.S. on Saturday as part of a nationwide day of action.

Speakers at the Williamsburg protest will include Democratic Candidate for the First Congressional District Herb Jones, Organizing Manager for Pro-Choice Virginia Michelle Wooten McFarland and Ammie Pascua, director of Movement Building with the Hampton Roads Reproductive Justice League.
