NORFOLK — Norfolk International Airport (ORF) reports that there was an increase in passenger activity during February 2022.
In an announcement from the airport, it reported that there was a 98 percent increase in passenger activity last month, with the number of passengers totaling 232,207. The comparison was made against February 2021, where the passenger count was 117,247.
In the first two months of 2022, the total passenger count for ORF was 452,887. This is a stark increase from the same reporting period in 2021, which saw 238,967 passengers.
During February 2022, the airport reports that it also shipped in and out 4,611,798 pounds of cargo; a 13.4 percent increase over the previous year.
Recently, ORF announced that the new budget airline, Breeze Airways, has started nonstop flights to certain locations across the United States out of its terminals. The most recent set of nonstop flights announced include destinations such as Jacksonville (Fla.), Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Savannah (Ga.).
Other airlines that operate out of ORF include Allegiant Air, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and United Airlines. Regional airlines serviced at ORF are iAero Airways, Miami Air International, Sun Country Airlines, Swiftair, and XTRA Airways. Additionally, ORF services cargo carriers Federal Express, Mountain Air Cargo, Inc., and the United Postal Service (UPS).
