WILLIAMSBURG — After helping lead the William & Mary lacrosse team to a lopsided victory against Old Dominion, junior Sarah Cipolla was selected as the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week.
The honor marks the second time this season that a W&M standout has garnered the distinction, as Lauren Russell earned the accolade following the Tribe’s season-opening victory at Villanova.
Cipolla totaled a career-best eight points (5g, 3a) with a game-high seven draw controls in the Tribe’s victory last week. The point total ranks tied for seventh in school history.
The Glenwood, Md., native also finished the contest with three ground balls and a caused turnover, while she tallied her five goals on just seven shots for a .714 shooting percentage.
W&M will return to action when it hosts No. 4 Maryland at Martin Family Stadium on Saturday at 1 p.m.
