RICHMOND — After posting impressive performances in the William & Mary (W&M) lacrosse team’s contests against No. 6 Duke and Richmond, freshman Ainsley Huizenga has been selected as the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Rookie of the Week.
The honor marks the second consecutive week in which a W&M standout has garnered the distinction, as Serena Jacobs earned the accolade following the Tribe’s season-opening victory at Villanova.
In addition to scoring her first career goal versus Duke, Huizenga totaled a team-high four draw controls with a ground ball.
Additionally, she posted a caused turnover and a ground ball at Richmond.
Huizenga currently ranks third on the team in draw controls this season (6).
W&M will return to action when it hosts Old Dominion at Martin Family Stadium on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
