JAME CITY COUNTY — The months long improvement projects that shut down a bridge along the Jamestown leg of the Virginia Capital Trail (VCT) has been completed two months ahead of schedule.
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) said in a press release that in November work crews began replacing bridge planks with new epoxy coated planks that will provide additional friction for the safety of pedestrians and cyclists. The new materials will also extend the life of the bridge deck.
The bridge is located between mile marker 2 on the VCT and the Greenspring Interpretive Trail and is part of a 52-mile bicycle and pedestrian shared-use trail that runs from Jamestown to Richmond along Scenic Route 5.
