Virginia Board of Education Meetings Scheduled for this Week

RICHMOND — The Virginia Board of Education, a board appointed by the Virginia’s governor to develop education polices for the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), is set for meetings on Jan. 26 and 27. Both meetings will take place in the James Monroe Building, 22nd floor Board Room, 101 N. 14th St. in Richmond.

The public meeting on Wednesday starts at 1 p.m. and will be a work session. The board will discuss impacts of teacher evaluations and professional development. For a work session agenda, click here. Public comment will not be taken.

Thursday’s public meeting starts a 9 a.m. According to meeting’s agenda posted on the VDOE website, the board will discuss passing scores for teacher licensure exams as well as standards for various Standards of Learning subjects.

A part of this meeting will be open to public comment. Anyone wishing to address the board should submit their request to Sonya Broady at  Sonya.Broady@doe.virginia.gov or by calling (804) 225-2540 in advance of the meeting.

Individuals addressing the board are limited to three minutes.

The Thursday meeting will be live streamed on the VDOE YouTube channel.
