York County to Offer Class on Financial Safety for Senior Citizens

YORK COUNTY — A local non-profit group is offering a one hour course designed to protect senior citizens from financial scams.

The program is being offered by the York-Poquoson Triad, a group that specializes in providing free resource information for the elderly and disabled, will offer an hour long class called “Financial Safety for Seniors” on Saturday, Jan. 26 from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Senior Center of York, 5314 George Washington Memorial Hwy.

During the program, Oscar Alvarez of the Elder Abuse Forensic Center will present tips on how to safeguard bank accounts and financial resources to help protect from becoming a victim of financial exploitation.

The class is free of charge, but attendees must register on the York County Parks and Recreation website.
