HAMPTON ROADS — When Hampton Roads prepares for severe weather, Riverside Health System remains ready to continue to provide services to community members as needed.

With severe winter weather impacting the region this weekend, Riverside is sharing how community members can continue to seek healthcare.

Riverside stated that if a major storm is coming, the system has action plans in place to care for any medical emergencies, as well as for patients in hospitals and residents in long-term care facilities.

This includes having staff in the facilities who are capable of maintaining services, having enough food for patients, having backups of critical supplies such as oxygen and medication, as well as standard supplies like linens, beds and wheelchairs.

Riverside also has generators at every location, including those that house patients overnight, which operate 24 hours a day.
