YORK COUNTY — Deputies from the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office (YPSO) arrested a 16-year-old York High School student on the night of Thursday, Jan. 20, after the student made threats to bomb another student’s home.
According to a press releast posted on the York-Poquoson Sheriffs Office’s Facebook page, school officials and deputies were made aware of the threats on Jan. 19.
After gathering information, they executed a search warrant at the student’s home in Seaford around 6 p.m. Thursday evening. No bomb-related materials were found.
YPSO charged the teenager with two counts of threats to bomb and the teen was taken into custody. The student was then transported to the Merrimac Detention Center.
The YPSO Facebook post says that county law enforcement and the York County School Division take all reports seriously and investigate them thoroughly.
Any threats or concerns should be reported directly to law enforcement.
The post also stated that York-Poquoson Sheriff J.D. “Danny” Diggs asks parents to speak to their children that making threats can have serious consequences.
