YORK COUNTY — The 2023 fiscal budget was a main topic for discussion as the York County Board of Supervisors met for a regular meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 18.

During the meeting, which took place at York Hall, 301 Main St., York County Administrator Neil Morgan and the Board listened to public comments and recommendations for how the budget should be set for the upcoming fiscal year.

Morgan said this is one of the first steps in the budget process.

“This is to give people an opportunity to make their concerns or ideas aware to the board so that we can factor that in as we go through the process over the next several months,” Morgan said before the public comments began. “Ultimately the board makes some strategic judgements and my office processes all the needs and concerns from all the agencies.”

Residents who were unable to attend the meeting can still submit their comments by emailing the Board at bos@yorkcounty.gov or by calling the Budget Comment Line at (757) 890-3220 and leaving a voicemail.

The next major step in the process will take place on March 14 when Morgan presents the budget to the Board. A public hearing on that budget will held a month later on April 19. The final form of the budget is scheduled to be adopted on May 4.

The next meeting is scheduled to take place on February 1 at 6 p.m. in the York Hall board room.
