JAMES CITY COUNTY — The James City Service Authority (JCSA) and its contractor, Hydromax USA, will perform preventative maintenance on fire hydrants beginning today (Tuesday, Jan. 18).
This is part of JCSA’s maintenance program to ensure the functionality and accessibility of all fire hydrants.
The work may require minor clearing of landscaping, trees and shrubs.
Each fire hydrant will be worked on, which could result in a temporary discoloration of water.
JCSA said that those who experience discolored water should flush cold-water fixtures until the water runs clear.
While the water remains safe to use, residents are encouraged to refrain from washing clothes until the water runs clear.
