HAMPTON ROADS — The 2022 Girl Scout Cookie season has arrived, and this year, Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast are selling cookies in a creative, socially distant way.
In a new national collaboration with DoorDash, an on-demand delivery platform, Girl Scouts are offering consumers the option to order cookies online and have them delivered straight to their doors.
Again this year, the young entrepreneurial scouts are using new sales strategies and technology skills that were conceived as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Through this collaboration, Girls Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) and DoorDash are giving Hampton Roads customers who do not already know a Girl Scout the opportunity to purchase cookies and have an on-demand delivery experience.
Partnering with DoorDash’s technology and team, local Girl Scouts will track and fulfill orders, manage inventory and more.
Additionally, Girl Scouts will run outdoor cookie booths that will follow local, state, and CDC guidelines. They will also be selling cookies through the Digital Cookie online platform for direct shipment or local delivery.
Starting Feb. 18, consumers can enter their zip code to purchase cookies online from a local troop for direct shipment or donation to local causes.
Girl Scouts have added their new cookie Adventurefuls to their lineup this year, along with Girl Scout Cookie favorites like Thin Mints, Samoas, and Tagalongs.
“With every sale, the Girl Scout Cookie Program teaches girls how to think like entrepreneurs as they run their own small businesses and learn skills like goal setting, people skills, and decision making—which are imperative for any leadership role,” said a Jan. 11 release from Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast.
Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast serves nearly 7,000 girls in grades kindergarten through 12 that reside in southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina.
