Virginia Department of Health To Close Community Testing Centers Sunday as Winter Storm Approaches

STATEWIDE — The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) is closing its Community Testing Centers (CTCs) on Sunday, January 16, with the safety of the public and staff in mind as a winter storm expected Sunday could bring snow to much of the state.

The testing centers are located in Richmond, Newport News, Norfolk and Prince William. Two additional centers in Fairfax and Charlottesville will open on Saturday, January 15, but will be closed for the weather event on Sunday.

VDH will decide Sunday afternoon whether to open the vaccination and testing centers on Monday.  Please check VDH’s website and social media accounts for this information. The VDH Community Vaccination Centers (CVCs) across the state are not usually open on Sundays.

The best time to prepare for severe winter weather is now, before temperatures drop significantly and staying safe and warm becomes a challenge. Visit the VDH website to learn more about winter safety.
