Social Security Offices Remain Closed for In-Person Appointments

NATIONWIDE — Offices for the U.S. Social Security Administration (SSA) remain closed for in-person appointments.

On Monday, Jan. 10, the SSA issued a release that stated that, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, its offices nationwide will remain closed for in-person appointments.

However, there are several options for those who need to conduct business with the SSA. Residents can take care of many different transactions by visiting the SSA’s online portal.

Additionally, SSA representatives remain available via telephone. Residents are encouraged to call their local office, which can be located by clicking here. The office that services the Historic Triangle, located at 11706 Jefferson Ave. in Newport News, can be reached by calling (866) 331-9169, (800) 325-0778 (TTY), or (833) 950-2292 (fax).
