JAMES CITY COUNTY — The road widening project on Longhill Road is set to enter a new phase as early as Jan. 10, weather permitting.
According to a press release from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), the new phase will place traffic on the north and south sides of the road.
Construction crews will shift westbound traffic to the newly completed westbound lanes on the north side of Longhill Road, as eastbound traffic will remain in the eastbound lanes on the south side of the roadway, between Glenburnie Road and the new roundabout at Williamsburg Plantation Drive. As part of this shift, the previously closed eastbound left-turn lane on Longhill Road to Olde Towne Road will reopen to traffic.
