
HISTORIC TRIANGLE — The school systems around the Historic Triangle have announced closures due to inclement weather causing hazardous road conditions on Tuesday, January 4, 2022.
Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools (WJCC)
The Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools (WJCC) has announced that all schools will be closed to students on Tues., January 4, 2022 due to hazardous road conditions as a result of inclement weather. This includes all school and extracurricular activities. Additionally, WJCC notes that students will not engage in virtual learning on this day.
As of the publication of this article, Tuesday’s WJCC School Board meeting is still scheduled with a budget work session to begin at 4:00 p.m. and a work session slated to begin at 6:30 p.m. Updates regarding the status of this meeting can be found on the school division’s website.
York County School Division (YCSD)
The York County School Division (YCSD) has announced that its schools will be closed to students on Tuesday, Jan. 4.
As a result of inclement weather, the school division made the decision to close schools on Tuesday based on the likelihood of icy road conditions overnight and that the roadways will not improve sufficiently enough by Tuesday morning to allow for safe transportation.
While YCSD offices will be closed on Tuesday, it will be a staff work day for Division employees. Essential personnel should report on-site as directed by their supervisors. All other employees should work from home, also as directed by their supervisors.
